Could fish and/or snails die due to a 5 degree change in temperature that happens daily?

I don't know if it would cause "sudden death" but I would think it could weaken their immune systems making them more likely to get ill. Perhaps if its only 5 degrees they'll be ok as long as the change occurs slowly. What size tank are we talking about ?

10 gallon on my desk temp range is from 72 degrees to 78 degrees or so. All in one day.

Since its only 10gal then the temp may be changing too fast for the fish to accomendate, I always buy a heater a size or two up from the recommended to help with the temperature changes. I have a 10 under my 30 and had the same problem untill I put a 20gal rated heater in there. What sorta fish are in there?
