Dead shrimp question

Is it normal for a dead shrimps color to appear as if the shrimp was cooked? The other day my wife noticed a redish orange speck on the substrate and turns out it was half a shrimp (assuming the other half was a snack for one of the fishes).

the colour means they have kerotin(not sure of spelling)in them.
