so i set my tank up and added a shrimp to start the cycle, i did not however de chlorinate the water, just used regular tap water, can i dechlorinate the water after i have added the salt? keep in mind there is nothing in my tank but sand and a dead shrimp, thx in advance for responses

You are going to be headed for algae problems using tap water this is caused by the impurities such as phosphates and silicates IMHHO .. I use distilled on all 3 of our tanks and have been happy with it I get it at walmart purple cap/label ...Forgot to ask is this a cocktail shrimp or live one , you can add the declorinator any time after but that will not remove the other impurities HTH

yah, look at the post below this one on the fourms. About RO/DI and Distilled.
