Decorations

I will start my fish less cycling next week but I am trying to get all my decorations in the tank and ready.
I want to add some large rocks and some driftwood.
Can I just add some random rocks and sticks from my backyard?

Some rocks from you backyard could raise the pH level. Some sticks could have parasites.

If you take some vinegar and drop a few drops onto the rocks and they fizz, don't use them. They can leach out into your water. If they don't fizz, you'll be alright. Just make sure to clean them well.
