disinfecting pond plants

I'd like to bring some of my pond plants indoors to some of my tanks and (maybe i'm paranoid) but I want to make sure that there is nothing on them (pathogens from the pond fish) that would harm my fish. I was thinking a soaking in potassium pemanganate....your thoughts

That's probably the best way to do it, the problem is some plants react rather poorly to the KMnO4.
