Diy 3d aquarium advice for supplies

I have a 30to gal bowfront I'm planning on doing the back wall and left side wall I'm going to layer the styrofoam to give it depth but I was wondering what paint is safe to use and how do you seal the styrofoam I've been on a few pages nd thy mention cement what kind is it any cement what is the safest method for the fish less likely to leak port raise ph

What do you plan to do with the heater and filter? I don't quite understand what people do with them with these 3d backgrounds. If the filter intake is buried in the background won't it be ineffective at filtering?
