I don't know. I suppose it could be possible, but I doubt it. If they did spawn, the fry could, and probably would, have deformities, and other problems that could cause them problems. I wouldn't worry about it. If they did spawn, I'd move them to a different tank.
 
It could be aggressive behavior or it could be breeding attempts. Most african rift lake cichlids can hybridize with one another. To try to curb that is to get males that have differant colors and body types. Example blood red peacocks and soulosi or yellow labs.

3" is to small for spawning in that species.
