Driftwood

I went looking for some driftwood down by a local river. I picked up a few random pieces I thought I might be able to work with.

Are there types of woods to stay away from?

What should I do to the wood to get it ready for a tank?

I found drift wood recently and added it to me tank. I soaked it in a bucket for a week. I suggest boiling it though to kill living fungus in the wood. Beware of pine I believe it is the only one poisonous.

Do y'all have yaupon (sp) where you live? You can't burn it in your fireplace because the fumes will make you nauseated so I wouldn't put it in my tank either.
