dwarf gourami need salt?

Hi - I'm having trouble searching in this new format.

Can someone tell me if a Dwarf Gourami MUST have aquarium salt?

The lables at Petsmart says "needs aquarium salt".

I had planned to get one for QT today so a quick reply is helpful. I'm my otocincilus out and in to their new home and I need something to put in there. I did plan on housing the Dwarf Gourami with otos also, but I know the otos can't do salt!

Fresh water fish including Dwarf Gouramis do not need salt in their water. Salt has some uses in disease treatment but is not necessary or even desirous to have constantly in a fresh water tank. It is an old myth in the hobby that salt is good for fresh water fish, which have evolved to live in water with out it.
