Is there any basic plants that I can put in a freshwater tank with low lighting, just to make things look a lot more realistic? Something that I can tie to driftwood, or just rest in my sand bed?

My lighting is just two basic 40 watt bulbs in a 75 gallon tank

Java fern, Java moss and anubias can all be tied to decor and are extremely hardy lowlight plants.

Thanks so much!

+1 on these choices!

I also have banana plants and find them cool looking. They don't need to be buried, and can be tied to DW as needed. Relatively undemanding.

Interesting about not burying banana plants. I was just reading about them and it suggested that they are buried three quarters of the length of the bananas. I just bought one and did so about a week ago and have one new leaf so far.

Either way works! I just like the look of them completely above the substrate.

Thx DeeLee

I wanted to make sure I was doing the right thing.
I thought about it before I buried my banana. My pleco won't move it around if I burry it. And I placed it in a slower moving area so the floating leaves have a chance.
I'm interested, have u ever cut a leaf and grown a new one? Read about that, too.
