Eclipse 12 gallon tank - loud motor?

So we've had the tank for 5 years, but it's only been in use for 3 years. It used to be quiet, but now it's really loud. I took the intake tube thing out and cleaned it, but that didn't solve the problem.

So does it just get louder with age, or is there something else I should try? Is it time to replace the motor? With an Eclipse it's all one piece on the top, so I'd have to replace the whole filter/lid thing.

Any ideas for me?

I'd sell ya mine that is just sitting here - the whole works for probably $40 plus shipping!

I have to take the impellor out and clean it once in awhile that might help. If it looks broken you can get replacements pretty cheap to.
