Eclipse catfish gone? And reappeared!!

Bought an eclipse catfish a week ago and after the first day he was hiding in one of my decors the next day he was gone!! And when i did a water change today , he reappeared!
But now hes gone again!

Do eclipse catfish burrow themselves in the gravel? Or sand?

They don't bury themselves as far as I've ever heard of or seen, but they will get themselves wedged into any tiny space they can fit in. Mine hides in a very simple plant. While you'd think he wouldn't be able to hide at all, he manages. Give them a few weeks and they get very active. If you want them out at day, try coercing them out with a little food during the day, and less at night when they're used to eating.

Thank you but everytime i put some shrimp pellets right in front of him he just swims away startled..

I hate to say leave food sitting around, but that's what I have to do. I put one pellet for every catfish each feeding time, generally near the place they like to hide.
