I have a 29 gallon freshwater tank I wish to plant with many low light plants and a fluorescent hood on a timer. I am an avid gardener, new to planted aquaria and have limited experience with betta fish, but am doing lots of research for this new tank.

I am wondering what to order for my initial set up, my dimensions are 30"L x 12"W x 18" H.

I was thinking of getting:
15.5 lbs of Seachem Flourite
20 lbs of Eco Complete
40 lbs of Caribsea freshwater fine "substrate" (gravel, "Peace River")
And maybe 55oz First Layer pure laterite

Would it be better not to mix the Flourite and Eco complete and just choose one?

Should I buy more and go for a deeper layer of substrate?

I have 20lbs of the gravel from my last tank that leaked this week, should I bother buying more for a "top layer" over the Eco complete/flourite or will this 20lbs be adequate?

Thanks for helping, I want to try to do it right the first time:)

^awesome, how many 20 lb bags? I have 20 lb of coarse sand already.

Ok good, order placed! Many thanks, can't wait to get it set up!
