Elodea Densa Question

I've got some Elodea Densa in my tank, which seem to be doing well. Over past week they seem to be growing little threads which look like cotton strands from a few locations halfway up the stems.

Anyone cast some light on what these are?

Its the plant growing, eventually those strands will start sprouting leaves. Other times its roots developing to anchor itself to something. I dont cut them off, but i hear many people do.

I think I'll let nature take it's course. They seem to be thriving & are growing like mad.
