I noticed that in the past couple of weeks my xenias have been showing some signs of stress. Then today I look at the tank and the crab is eating one of my frags? Should I pull the crab out and put him in the fuge or is he doing this for a reason. There is plenty of algae (natural, not bad) in the tank and enough food for most of the inverts? What should I do? TIA........

per liveaquaria.com
"if food is not available to them, they may turn to supplementing their diet with corals or invertebrates."

I had one once. I got rid of it for that very reason. Decimated a xenia colony I had.

Only crabs I will have is a hermit or two and a porcelain crab.

If you caught it in the act , then he needs to go or he will inflict more damage.

So that's where my Xenia frag went. Bastids! Emerald crabs coming out this weekend.

/shakes fist

Mine was doing the same thing and he was starting to go after my leather! He was out as soon as I could catch him! He was pretty cool to watch too, its a shame.
