I expect this has been asked lots of time but hear go's.
I have this tank fully planted and with filter running and lighting but no fish.
I did once have daphnia breading in there.
It seems a waist to have it just for that but fancy doing a bit of breading, something like a small fish, I did try Neons but no success, don't wont guppy's, but something a bit colorful.
Open for any suggestions.

can you put some pictures pls
Sorry, I have pictures but only on my hard drive so can not post.
It is just a bog standard 2 foot tank.
I am leaning towards shrimps or Killie fish, (got an idea I've spelt that wrong).

A 16 gallon tank... Breeding? If you have a place for fry some neat thoughts are: dario dario, killifish, badis badis, apistogramma (gotta have another tank available for dad), N-Class endlers, or maybe dwarf gourami? All but endlers can take some skill. Just some thoughts.

I would put schools of blue and red Danio, some corydoras at botom and few white tetras, maybe 3 ... You can add neon tetra also
