Exterior needs recaulking advice

I just got this really nice aquarium on the cheap from craigslist. I am just starting out and I need some advice.

If you take a look at the attachments, the silicone around the aquarium is horrible and I want to redo it.

Should I use 100% silicone or should I use aquarium safe silicone, even though I am chaulking the outside?

I'd use aquarium silicon to be sure nothing leaks through, I did this on a tank I got second hand as well. I also used aluminium angle on the edges for extra strength and to make it look tidy.
