So I just got home and I'm watching my female cockatoo cichlid laying her eggs while the male pulls guard duty I'm so happy

Can I still do pwc and does any one know how long it takes for them to hatch

Not sure about yours, but Rams take about 30 hours depending on the water temp. Warmer hatches faster. Then they are wigglers for a day. Usually not free swiming for 4-5 days. (I have eggs too- last night).

My male seems very sluggish is that normal and how long till he perks back up

Congrats! :D

The eggs should hatch in around 36hrs. Wigglers for about the same. Once they go free swimming, they'll need to be moved if you want to maximize survival. PWCs are fine with eggs, I wouldn't do one in the wiggler or free swim stages. The male is probably stressed and should be ok. The females sometimes let the male join in the guarding of the fry and sometimes will kick his tail for awhile. We usually remove the males after the eggs hatch to avoid any issues.
