feeding my seastar

i recently purchased a sand sifting seastar to help with my cleaning crew, but i don't have anyfish, is there anything i could feed it till i get some fish to create detritus so it can feed on that?

chopped up pieces of shrimp would work. Cut a pice up into small bites that are about half the size of the center of the star. Place the meat on the sand bed near it.
