female jaguar cichlid going crazy

we have a pair of jaguar cichlid that has already spawned 3 times... we never had any problems with them before being together but now the female would often attack the male, she even took a big chunk off his side last night so we had no choice but to place a divider between them... what is wrong with her?

I'm guessing he's not welcomed right now...obviously. It's not uncommon for the females to get defensive with their malts after awhile. Keep an eye on her for any other changes and always double check temps and water quality.

we put them in separate tanks for now cause we're treating them both for injuries... i hope they would get along with each other again it's still easier to clean a single tank than two
