hey, sorry in advance for the long post!
I've had a 75g reef set up for about 2 months now, everything going great except i bought a longnose butterfly about a week ago and i THINK he's brought ick into the system. he had few very small white dots the day after i got him, and they went away, but today there seems to be a lot lot more on him. they could be just debris, but i was thinking of setting up a quarantine and treating the longnose and the rest of my fish anyway (valentini puffer and pair of perc clowns) and leaving my main fishless for 8 weeks so i know i'll never get ick from these guys again and also i'll be able to quarantine future fish (which i should have done from the start!). sound like a good idea, or should i wait a bit longer to confirm he has ick?
Why i haven't set up a Quarantine tank is due to a few things i haven't quite understood about these tanks. I've read up a lot on them and i'm still unsure of a few things... My understanding is it's basically just a tank with no sand or liverock and people us PVC pipes as hiding places? Is no filtration used? Water changes must have to be performed a lot more than normal?
Also, what size would you all recommend i set up for the small longnose butterfly, small valentini puffer, and pair of percs? Lastly should i treat with copper, or hypo?
thanks!
