I agree with most of this thread.
Just putting in a plus one on Fluval filters, my fish house runs on Fluval kit, except a couple of sponge filters and two water feature pumps, everything else is Fluval.
It's old too! One Fluval 205 has been running since 2005, it still works! The fx5s are excellent, they've been going for several years. While I'm not a fan of internal filters the old 1/2+/3+ filters are also still doing their job.
Shame about your dog, you know deep down you did the right thing.
