Good afternoon, from snowy Winnipeg!

Based on previous advice, I switched from using charcoal in my Fluval 205 to filter floss.

Floss is in bottom basket, with ceramic rings in next two.

During media changes, should I just rinse the floss (in tank water), or change it outright?

Opinions welcome!

A good rinse in tank water should be fine.

Yep, just rinse. It doesn't have to be weekly either, just whenever it gets really gunky.

It depends how your tank looks. Filter floss is designed to remove very fine particles which can make the water look a bit cloudy, it's not supposed to do much biological filtration (although it can), but as long as you are happy with the clarity of your water there's no need to swap it out.
