Aquarium Advice Apprentice
Hi,
Just wanted to get some opinions on a canister filter size for a Malawi tank of 250litres (66g). I have 18 dwarf Mbuna in the tank and do a weekly 30% water change and gravel vac. It's a fairly new tank, 3 months old, but I haven't seen any noticeable ammonia build up at all.
My current set up is a tetra ex 1200 canister (ie 1200lph) with a vibration pump. Just wondering if anyone could give me some advice on whether this will be sufficient in the long term or whether I should look to add another canister of a smaller size? I was recommended I aim to cycle the water 3-5 times an hour, but given I'm dealing with malawis, is my current setup of just under 5 times sufficient?
Thanks for the input.
