filter media, been out to the quilting store?

Found some cheap filter pad at grainger. and to think i was paying 4$ for a 2x2 piece of pad. grainger has 1" thick filter pad 16" wide and 90feet long for 35$.
this ought to keep me going for a couple years. just need to check and see if it has any fire retardent added. grainger has a lot of equipment that could be used in the fish hobby. timers, float switches, tubing, fittings.............

Yes and no, it is a cycle. Kinda like the food chain. The waste, what the critters body doesn't use, will be excreted but will be less than it was before. The energy will be used by the critter, not become ammonia, the waste will become ammonia or food for another critter down the cycle.
