Filter sponge

So I recently bought a Fluval pre-filter sponge that slides onto the intake tube for additional filtration. When I put it onto my Aqueon Quietflow10, the filter started making a lot of noise. Any ideas? Thanks.

Usually that's a signal that the filter is not getting enough water going through it. Make sure you squeeze all the air out of the sponge before you slide it on the intake and if that doesn't work, try taking it off and see if that solves the problem. If it does, I would not use the sponge anymore unless you want to have to replace your filter sooner than normal due to overheating the motor.
