Filter trouble :(

I after unplugging my aquaclear filter for a water change recently, it's prone to not starting once I plug it in. So far, hitting it has been the solution. Anyone know how to fix it? Should I just get a new one?

Have you tried cleaning the impeller and the place it sits in?

When mine did that, cleaning the impeller fixed it. It is easy and only takes a few seconds. Mine had some stringy gunk wrapped around it. I still have it on my calendar to clean at least once every 3 months, but the truth is whenever it seems to be slowing down/not restarting, clean the impeller.

You fill it back up with water before you plug it in right?
