i was wondering if i whould need a filter for my tank even know i am goin to be using live rock. and do i need a filter during the cureing process? but if i do need a filter what do you guys recomend?

i currently have a homemade skimmer and no filter. i will be using my skimmer when i cure my rock but do i need a filter? and what whould be the best kind?

You may if you are going to have messy eaters/carnivores because it gets their left overs out of the tank.... What fish do you want any way?

With a sufficient amount of LR, proper water flow and some sort of export system (water changes, skimmer, caulerpa harvesting.. etc), an extra external system is not needed. It just adds more work to your routine. If fed carefully, even messy eaters won't be that much a concern.

Cheers
Steve
