First fish died....help/why??? advice

Hey everyone..

Im new here and today my one glo danio died..it was struggling....this is my 2nd tank after a long time. Its been set up and cycled and all that. I had my fish for about 3 weeks...30 gallon tank....its cycled, my test levels are perfect(ammo 0..nites 0 )..temp perfect......It was the smallest of all the danios ( i just have 2 cat fish in there with them which are fine)...I have a bio rock in there and have cleaned the tank and up on top of all my reg maintenance duties.......

What doyou think may have happened? I have VERY much tried to underfeed them as I know when i had my first tank of Angels (which lasted 8 years actually) thats a huge thing..so i ve been very careful with it......Could this just have been one of those things that it died or?

My last water cahnge which i do weekly was a week ago and they all have been fine....

Also, maybe stupid but could my powerhead be a problem ?? all the fish like swimming in it and had no problems with it before so far....I turn it off when i feed them so the flakes dont go in the current everywhere....I dunno, maybe im over reaching for the problem here..so just asking....

I put in stresscoat and salt after I took the fish out of the tank......I did not do a change as I wasnt sure that was the problem from last week.(which i dont think it was)......

Should I do anything else now or just now let things go since levels etc are fine......??????????? any help is appreciated thanks

Sometimes fish just die. Glofish are patented and breeders have to pay a royalty on them, so damaged and deformed fish that would usually be culled aren't because they're expensive.

yea?....so maybe its just one of those things eh?...I see no other reason why they couuld have died.....literally checked everything....

Should i cut back to feeding like once every other day maybe???

I actually overfeed a bit rather than underfeed. My fish get flakes every morning, skipping an occasional day, and brine shrimp, shrimp pellets, algae tabs, etc., once a week on PWC day. I make sure there's a little extra food in the tank to sustain my shrimp and snail populations.

dont u worry about all the extra in the gravel causing ammonia etc????????

lol yea i know..but if overfeeding, then even the smallest bits escape in the gravel...then again maybe he doesnt have gravel lol

The weekly water changes probably keep his ammonia down.

yea..ive just been really afraid to overfeed....i have the danios and catfish...the smallest of the glos died today and thats really only thing i can think i did...was very small in size....

No gravel in any of my tanks.

To be clear, I don't completely flood my tank with food. I add enough to make sure some flakes make it to the bottom and sit for the snails and shrimp. It doesn't sit for long before the cleanup crew gets it.

I've maybe seen a piece of moldy food in my tanks once. A big flake got caught in the plants in a tank with a low snail population. It was quickly removed. To be honest, between the oversized filters I use and the live plants, I never see ammonia in the tanks.
