Fishless Cycle for Axolotl

I don’t know why they’d suggest adding the fish, then changing the water. Makes a lot more sense if you’re going to change water, to do it before the fish are introduced (less stress in an already stressful situation for them)

Like Aiken said, it’s best to just do a fairly large water change now regardless of the test results. As a fish (or axolotl lol) keeper you’re basically responsible for 2 things, Water quality and feeding them. When in doubt, change the water.
 
I did a big water change yesterday morning then added ammonia.
I did test this morning
Ammonia 0ppm & nitrites 0.50 ppm

Nitrites to high?
Should I wait before getting axolotl?
