Hi I'm cycling a tank using raw fish, however I'm lead to believe that this method could introduce bad bacteria to the tank?, would I be better removing the raw fish & use the fish flake method?, I'm a bit confused as I've heard the fish flake method can add phosphate & later down the road can cause an algae bloom?, that is why I'm using raw fish. Would like to hear from anyone that has cycled using these methods....thanks

Hi, yes, both methods (the raw fish or fish food) are very messy and difficult to control the amount of ammonia. If you can get your hands on some pure ammonia, it's a lot easier, cleaner, and more accurate. I know others have used the raw fish method, maybe they can give you more advice based on their experience though. Good luck!
