Hi everyone,
I’m wondering if someone can give me some advice regarding a platy that in the past couple of days has started showing signs of irritation.
Two days ago I noticed the fish flicked its body off of a leaf in the tank. It did this a couple of times and then stopped. It’s done it again once since then. Also, the fish just seems generally agitated. I’ve seen it dart around the tank a few times too. However, the rest of my fish are completely fine.
The fish has no sign of ich, although it has always had this white sheen that can only be seen in the light. I don’t think this is the cause of the problem as the fish did have this when I bought it, but I am still suspicious as the shop I bought it from doesn’t have the best reputation. I’ve attached pics of this white patch in the post.
Apart from this, the fish is completely fine. He’s active and is eating normally. He gets excited when I’m about to start feeding. I’ve ordered the API master test kit to see if this is a water quality issue, and I’m going to carry out a water change today to see if this helps. Any advice or information is appreciated!
