Fluval 403 Help

I just bought my first canister filter and i am unfamiliar with them. I can't quite seem to get it to work. any common troubleshooting that can be solved? Thanks, this is my first post

Did you buy it used? I believe the 403 is a really old model (late 80's). Here's a link to the manual if you don't have one.

What are you having problems with? I got the new 406 model and might be able to help.

Plug it in OK that was not nice, You need to have some water in the canister to start it, fill it half full, secure top fully, make ready to run, attatch all hoses(intake to intake) (Out to out) make sure all the valves are open, and plug it in. Should start up and be good to go. It will auto prime with that amount of water in the filter.

Thanks for all the help. I saw a clip on youtube, starting the intake manually to siphon then attaching hose to intake port. Fired right up.
