I am cycling a new tank for one of my cichlids. There are no fish In the tank. I noticed today that there is some foam in the corners of my tank and I'm wondering where it came from and how to get rid of it.

I went to my LFS and apparently it's because of too much protein in my tank. They said do a water change and it shouldn't happen anymore. Had to manually remove the foam it won't dissipate on its own. So I did the water change and today it's much cleaner. I wasn't sure how often are you supposed to do a water change on a cycling aquarium?

Organic protiens are pretty common in aquariums.
Many never see them as they have ample surface agitation or use a type of surface extraction tool like the eheim.
Old school is to lay newspaper on top of water and draw it off one to the other.
I would aim more circulation towards surface to break it up and let filter remove it OR get a surface extraction tool.

One example ;

Eheim Skim350 Micro Surface Skimmer

Ya I think in gonna go with the surface skimmer. And maybe add a power head
