I have a male guppy that has a translucent tail, except for orange spot. I got him at Walmart, his body is gray and has a couple other orange spots. When the light hits his body right it is purple/blue.

What i was wondering was why almost every other day he gets this Big black spot on his side, but its one both sides. Also, what kind of guppy is he?

Heres some pictures, But i will try to get a pic when he has the black spot.

No specific kind just a nice fish
Kind of like my two females- adult and juvie- whose dorsal and tails change colors respectively
They go from orange to yellow to gold to blue etc
Theres nothing wrong with it

I used to have a similar guppy. It was labeled mosaic or watercolor guppy or something like that. Just a nice strain. :)

Those look like wild type (aka feeder type) guppies. Very pretty. I used to have a few. It could be possible that the dot you are seeing every other day is caused by the light. The colors of fish usually fade after the light turns off and after the light is back on, their colors will start to come back. It could be that you are not seeing the spot when you look at the fish just after the lights come on, and when you look at them after they have been on for a while, the spot gets brighter and is more visible.
