probably a type of sponge. most of those colors and lumps of mystery on your new rock won't be there in a couple months. much of the life on live rock dies as it is transported from the ocean to you.

I hope it doesn't lose it's color, I really love the greens, reds, oranges, and yellows all over. I kinda want a little more color on the rocks than just the purple and red.
