these little beauties are the real deal, not the false ones some pedicure shops pass off as doctor fish. and my question is, can you breed them in a home tank? what conditions? AND how big do garra rufa actually grow to? thanks :)

Hmm, that's a good question. I think they only grow to around 3 inches but I'm not positive, it would be nice to be able to find some info on them, but when I googled them all I got was a bunch of wholesaler and spa sites.

Hi there,
I have a fish spa and my garra rufa look exactly the same as yours.
What do the fake ones look like? How can u tell?

Gara Ruffa tend to not breed in aquariums. They are bred large-scale in places like Asia where workers physically remove the fish from the tank and inject them with hormones which spurs on breeding. So yeah, tricky and of questionable ethics.

When I bought my Garra Flavatra, the store had them in both juvenile and adult forms, they go from about 1 inch to 3 - 3.5 inches if well-fed.
