Aquarium Advice Regular
so lets start with the facts, i have 2 gbr's one male and one female, with an assortment of other community fish in a 36 gal cycled bowfont tank. my testing shows 0 ammonia, 0 nitrates, .5ppm nitrites (or however the order of those two go) and a ph of 7.6. most of the fih in the tank are south americn fish which i understand like acidic water (ph of 6.4 - 6.9) but can be kept healthy in higher ph water. now my question is, my male gbr appears to have pop-eye in just his left eye, i have read that it can be caused by either an injury or possibly a bacterial infection due to poor water quality. if it was an injury i can see this cause my gbrs are a mating pair and do tend to get agressive when they spawn like most fish do (which also happened recently), but if it were bacterial, could the higher ph be the cause of the issue?
