Gold Barbs with Shrimp

I have tried putting shrimp such as RCS and CRS in my 55g planted. I have successfully stocked one Atya Shrimp who has been fine and filter feeding for months without being harmed by my "semi" aggressive barbs. But when I put RCS in, they were vanquished, and I decided to wait and try again. So I found some Crystal Red shrimp for very very cheap and picked up 2 of them. They made it over night, but I haven't seen them since. It's been a couple days.

Has anyone successfully kept a colony of Red Shrimp with Gold Barbs at all?

I don't want to buy a 70 dollar colony and have them get killed.

I've never tried keeping my Gold Barbs with shrimp, but they definitely pick at (and have killed some) small snails. With that in mind I'd imagine they will eat small shrimplets.

ugh I may have to part ways with them :'(
