Good fish pair for planted 20gal

I have a 20 gallon tall tank that has finished its cycle and is ready for inhabitants. The tank is already planted and has drift wood. I'm not sure what I want to put in the tank yet so I'm looking for some advice. I want something unique I guess. But I've been thinking about having a pair of fish and wanted to know what species would be a good choice.

Rams too. Thats pretty much it except for some super exotic stuff.

Honey or dwarf gouramis, checkerboard cichlids. Trios also work for many of these fish.
