So basically im doing a project in biology about invertebrates so of course I chose my mantis shrimp as the subject for my project. He's a 4inch purple spot mantis in a 20gal tall. What I want to do is somehow mount my gopro to the aquarium glass so that i can record the mantis. I was hoping to do a time lapse of the mantis's daily activities and show how he closes off his burrow at night. My brother has one of those suction cup mounts that he sticks on his sailboat to record video. If I rinse it off is it aquarium safe? Im pretty sure its made by gopro. Another option I was exploring was a magnetic mount which is a little pricey, but is it aquarium safe either? It says its rubber coated. Heres a link http://www.amazon.com/Rubber-Coated...1432908365&sr=8-2&keywords=gopro+magnet+mount

The suction mount will work. Or take a pair of cleaning magnets and fasten a GoPro mount on the magnet in the tank. A bit of silicon will do the trick.

If it's a hero 4 you can start and stop it with the GoPro app.

Yeah the suction should be fine. Make sure he doesn't see the am era, or else you'll be looking at a broken lens lol. Seriously though, I've seen videos of them breaking peoples thumbs and cracking glass aquariums.

Yeah I know a lot of divers have had their expensive camera rigs smashed by a mantis that mistook the reflection in the lens for another mantis lol.
