green "antenna" looking things?

So after searching google some say they like it, but it isn't very useful. Any input? Should I get rid of it & how if so??
 
You can get rid of it if you want, but I don't see why to bother. All you would have to do is pull them up.

All they are doing is eating up nutrients from your water. This is a good thing. If they start to look bad or over populate just prune them by pulling them up. It's really as simple as that.
