Growth on my base rock

What is this stuff on my rock? Algae or what. It is a tan brownish color

Does it look like this? If yes im wondering too. Maybe a type of coraline?

No it's darker than that

Base rock goes through an "ugly" phase before it starts to color up. This kinda looks like that to me. It will most likely go to brown and then you should start to see some green or purple coralline after that

Yay I'd rather see that than the boring chalk color of base rock
