Hair algae problem

Hello all,

I have been having a really bad hair algae problem in my 29 Biocube. I tried Emerald Crabs, and Hermits without success. I added a Protein Skimmer and UV Sterilizer......still major hair algae. Also all water parameters are WNL, I check 1-2 times per week. So I am turning to my commrades in fish tank arms. All help will be greatly appreciated.

Bad Hair Algae Problem

Hello all,

I am having a real bad problem with uncontrollable hair algae in my 29 Biocube FOWLER tank. I put in Emerald Crabs and Hermits. Also added a Protein Skimmer and UV Sterilizer with no luck. Also testing the water parameters twice a week, with weekly water changes.....still BAAAAD ALGAE. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

How much are you feeding? a U.V. sterilizer will do absolutely nothing for hair algae. You have to figure out where the excess nutrient are coming from.
