hammer coral growth?

ok so I got my hammer coral when it was only 2 heads and now there's clearly 3heads. how do they split ?? because I looked under the tentacles and I see 8!!!! new heads ?? growing.It's growing from it's foot

Hi,

The hammer coral will split its head right down the middle, creating 2. I think you are talkibg about new tentacles or polyps rather than new heads. The new head will be a split of a current one.

Sometimes, however, a whole new head will form from the base or stem. Mine is doing that at the moment, but it isnt just one tentacle.

yea I think there new polyps because each one has 5 tiny tentacles. idk but watever it is there 8 of them coming out the base of the coral

I love my hammer too. One of my first corals. I think mine is growing a new head but I am not positive, it has a small growth at the bottom. Is this what yours did?
