First you should not bury the coral in the sand. It grows from the skelton so you are stopping any growth that may happen if you leave it like this.
Leave the dead head on it may come back, I have had new head grow from the base of a dead on before.
I've very relieved to hear that. I was really apprehensive about having to remove a piece of it. I've moved him to a nice hole in the LR now. Thank you so much.
I totally agree with seaham. You might see some growth from the dead area later on. As a matter of fact we were just discussing this a couple weeks ago on another thread.
