I have had this 20 gal set up for around 5 & 1/2 months and have recently just got rid of a bad case of diatoms algae. However, these two different types have just popped up and I was wondering if they could be identified and helped into being cured.

All tank parameters appear to be fine.

I have a protein skimmer and all the other necessary equipment.

Thanks for your help.

Have you tested for phosphates? One looks like hair algae and the other might be bryopsis.

the red one is cyno and the green looks like hair algae get as much as you can out and do pwc and yes test for phosphate and nitrate. and find the source if you have any.

May want to think about getting a turbo snail or two, they cleaned up my initial algae growth very well.

Most algae is not necessarily bad unless it bothers you. algae will come and go, I would not lose any sleep over it.:infinity:

I personally would get rid of those two as they will over run your tank. Read that link I gave you earlier. It will give you some good ideas to help get rid of it.
