I Came home from out of town today and when I went up to check on my beta fish he has an object resembling a splinter stuck in his nostril. I am assuming it came from a plant and it appears to be irritating since he will occasionally thrash his head or "yawn" to try and get it out. Please help, I am not sure what to do and I really want to help my fish.

Any other suggestions? As of now I'm going to leave it for a day and see if he manages to knock it out himself. If not I'll try the tweezers. Please give any advice you can, I don't want to accidentally hurt him.

Looking at him right now and it looks like he got it out himself. :)

I think it wasn't in his nostril but rather in the skin. I think that it might have been a piece of debris that found it's way into the aquarium that he subsequently found while looking for leftover food on the bottom. Thanks for your help.

(And it looked like a sliver of wood, not a "y")
