HELP! Few questions on a new tank!

Hi! Im new to this forum and have a few questions.

I started a 46 gallon for FOWLR about a week ago and on my live rock there are like flat white strands of I don't know what! I have some white strings on there also but this flat stuff is wierd. Is this just algae or a worm?

Also I moved some of my live sand to level it out last night and my tank got cloudy as I was moving it. I could see the stuff coming out of of my sand in thick clouds like dust or something, is this normal?*

Im new to saltwater so they might be dumb questions but im just a little curious!Any help is greatly appreciated!

no question is dumb not asking questions is dumb the cloudiness is normal and it sounds like the things on your rock is maybe a feather duster coral casing if you can post a pic i will try to help you out and welcome to the most addictive demanding and rewarding hobby
