I wouldn't be so sure she's pregnant. If they are anything like a pictus catfish, a full meal can give them an extended belly like that.

My pictus looks pregnant a lot but it is the only one in the tank. It's just the way it was designed when it eats a big meal.

They are right. No male needed to produce eggs. How ever they need a male to fertilise them to hatch.

My 2 female red severums would lay eggs all the time Guard them for a day or 2 then eat them. No other male compatible fish with them. I asked the same question when I saw what I thought was the male lay eggs at the same time.LOL
